POTTED HISTORY


WELLINGBOROUGH OLD GRAMMARIANS BOWLS CLUB

The Club was formed in 1983 and 16 members attended the inaugural meeting. Fifteen matches were played that season and 40 players were involved.
Since that time the club has flourished and now about 60 outdoor Fixtures are played. The matches are played on Saturday and Sunday afternoons and on a Thursday evening, about half the games are men only the rest being mixed.
We have a Ladies Section playing several matches , and the club is affiliated to the Northamptonshire Bowling Association as well as the Northamptonshire Women’s Bowling Association.
Membership is open to all members of the Wellingborough Old Grammarians Association who’s Headquarters are at 46 Oxford Street Wellingborough.
Each year inter club competitions are organised and the Trophies are presented at the Annual dinner.
A Tour is arranged for each August Bank Holiday Weekend when 4 matches are played.
The present Home Green is at the Redwell Leisure Centre and is a green classified as Grade B.
The Club is in a healthy financial position and looks forward to a bright future.
